Individual Therapy

How does therapy work?

The therapeutic process is somewhat like building your dream home. We need to understand your dream. We listen, think, and conceptualize what you are wishing and wanting for and then determine the blueprint for helping you to achieve it. We listen for family dynamics, relationship patterns and struggles, current stressors, emotional status, social networks, conflict management strategies, personality traits, coping skills, self esteem and so on. These are the building blocks of your life. These things make up your core.

After collecting the information needed to better understand you, we will take you through the building process:

Step One: Determine Your Needs

Integrating your information helps us build a sophisticated plan for therapy. The intention of this integration is to meet your individual needs as they are specific to only you. We assume the role of caretaker in this effort. Understanding your needs is our responsibility. Assisting you in also understanding your needs is another responsibility.

Working together to achieve your goals is a shared responsibility between you and Therapy Core.

Step Two: Defining Your Goals so That They are Achievable

We, with your agreement, will select 1-3 goals for focus. We will define these focus areas and will review and apply diagnostic criteria in order to support therapy. This assists both you and Therapy Core in staying on track and maintaining direction.

Step Three: Outline Objectives

Once we know you and understand your needs, how will we reach your goals? We will decide on small steps, or objectives, that will act as a road map for us as we work together. With these objectives, we will decide on creative strategies that may challenge you to explore areas of your life and take new risks. These tools will assist you in becoming stronger, more confident and better able to handle and cope with difficulties in life.
